They were getting married in Auckland, NZ in early 2020 but were keen to have me do a pre-wedding shoot for them in Sydney. We decided to do a photoshoot at the sand dunes south of Sydney.
The weather on the day didn’t look promising with storms in the morning and gale force winds forecast for the afternoon. With that in mind, I rang up Neekita who was halfway through her hair and makeup sesh and asked if she’d be okay to have her hair up rather than have it free flow.
Now, Neekita on the phone and Neekita in person are like chalk and cheese. She’s an absolute darling in person but on the phone she can come across as the CEO of a financial institution – cold and ruthless. In response to my question on the hairdo, the response I got was a, “yeah, okay fine”.
That response left me in nervous tangles driving into the shoot but all of those were eased as soon as I saw these 2 clowns fooling around the car park trying to pick who I was since we hadn’t met before. Amar took his chances with talking to the only other brown skinned person – me.
Below is some evidence of the magic we made on the afternoon. Come gale force winds, threats of an epic storm and what not, I think we did well!
